Baraxton, Alliance Precons, & Store Champs
Greetings, Warlord players! Today we’ll review and briefly discuss a short list of upcoming products and events—namely Baraxton: The Guilds Conspire, Alliance Format Preconstructed Decks, and Warlord Store Championships. There will be more in-depth info to come, but today we take an early look at each of these exciting bits of upcoming news!
Baraxton: The Guilds Conspire
Having entered Into the Accordlands with set one, we now travel to the bustling guild city of Baraxton, where six dual class guilds vie for power and control of the city. Baraxton: The Guilds Conspire will be the first of two releases set in Baraxton, using continued mechanics and ongoing story elements to tie the two sets together.
While there is a lot to say about Baraxton, we’ll reserve that for an upcoming deep dive into the story, themes, and mechanics of the set. What we do have time for today is a very brief overview of the city and its guilds.
Baraxton is a longstanding neutral trade city and economic centerpiece of the Accordlands. While it has a storied history and has been under control by various groups at various points in time, we are arriving in the city during a time of prosperity and heavy commerce. Six dual class guilds, each roughly tied to one of the six Accordlands factions, operate out of their guild halls offering various services to the visitors and inhabitants in the town. While it’s in everyone’s best interest to keep the peace, no guild or their leader is completely satisfied with the status quo, and each is ever on the lookout for an opportunity to grow their control over the city.
Below is each guild symbol, name, the faction they best represent, and their two main classes. We’re practicing restraint today on this subject, but I will be back soon to blast you with details on what has grown to be maybe my personal favorite set of all time.
Setting Up for Success
We want to ensure the release of Baraxton: The Guilds Conspire is a success and that we can maintain a proper release cadence following its release. To that end, we have made the difficult but ultimately necessary decision to push its release back to Q1 of 2027. As we have publicly and repeatedly stated, we switched to a different manufacturing partner that we have come to believe more and more every day is perfect for our company, our beloved IP, and its incredible fans. However, the upfront work to ensure our quality standards are met has taken time.
When we first released Into the Accordlands, many fans were surprised to see 80 draft cards in plastic wrap on top of every single booster box. We did this because the draft format is a huge priority for us. We know Warlord is incredibly fun to draft, and we wanted to share that experience with everyone. Today, the ability to draft Warlord is still a central focus for us, and we’ve spent a crazy amount of time to ensure collation issues won’t rob us of the ability to share that experience in Baraxton or any future sets.
Alongside collation and product quality, a reliable release schedule is one of our top priorities as a company. It is what we owe every fan, and what we believe this release adjustment to Baraxton: The Guilds Conspire will mean for the game. Game design is not a blocker on this, we are already in the final stages for Set 3 (Baraxton: Guilds at War) and are finishing up artwork and manufacturing, while also actively working on sets 4-6.
As we lead up to release, we will begin to trickle out spoilers for the set through various channels, with the bulk of the set being revealed in the month before release. You will also see that preorders for Baraxton: The Guilds Conspire are available now through Team Covenant for direct consumers, as well as through Fulfilled for our retail partners. If you are a retail partner looking to preorder through your distributor, be on the lookout for those preorders to begin in the next few weeks as they get things into their system.
Alliance Preconstructed Decks
If you’re interested in getting into the Alliance format or gaining easier access to reprints of old Warlord cards, then the upcoming Alliance Preconstructed Decks are for you! If you’re unfamiliar with Alliance, here’s the quick details:
Multiplayer (3-5 players)
2 Warlords per deck (two warlords of any two factions form an ‘alliance’)
70 card singleton deck
Bigger starting army (4 level 1, 3 level 2, 2 Warlords)
Faction blending (all of your characters have all of your Warlords factions)
Many players have expressed interest in the format, but also shared that a lack of older card availability or decklists has been a barrier to entry. These preconstructed decks are a major way to combat both of those challenges, while also increasing older card availability for other non-rotating formats. Worth noting is that very few of the cards in these precons will be saga format legal as the focus is a thematic out of the box experience and welcoming players into the format through highly sought reprints.
We’re excited to release the Alliance Precons alongside Baraxton: The Guilds Conspire and will be sharing more information about each deck’s contents and playstyle soon.
Store Champs and LGS Monthly Events
We’ve been thrilled with the overwhelmingly positive reception to our organized play across the globe. Villains like Diabolus Ryden and Dreq Qor-Teth have been terrorizing local game stores for a few months at this point and are proving to be a real challenge. Despite this, we know that game store level play will naturally wane a bit in the months between now and the release of Baraxton. We had always planned to create a Store Championship kit, and today we’re announcing that kit as well as additional plans we’ve come up with to maintain engagement at the store level.
In Q4 of this year, we will be launching a new all-foil promo pack that stores can order through Fulfilled to run a Store Championship event! These will be a one-time order for stores, and will include some exciting EA promos for the first 20 participants to register, as well as additional promos for Top 8 and the 1st place Store Champion. After the Store Championships, we will also begin a monthly LGS event series with similar prizes that stores can run as we lead up to the release of Baraxton: The Guilds Conspire. We’ll be sending out more info directly to stores about these events in the coming weeks.
